Mean monthly fluxes of sensible and latent heat from the surface of the Indian Ocean.

Abstract

Mean monthly values of vertical fluxes of sensible and latent heat from the surface of the Indian ocean are computed for a five-year period. Extensive areas of strong evaporation and upward and downward sensible heat fluxes are located. The role in the context of monsoon circulation and formation of cloud and precipitation is discussed.
