Dr M. Devaraj Memorial Award

The Dr M. Devaraj Memorial Award for the Best Paper, instituted in memory of the Marine Biological Association of India's Past President, Dr M. Devaraj, honours the top paper presented at MECOS. The award includes a cash prize of ₹10,000 and a citation, recognizing exceptional research contributions.

MECOS 1

This award is constituted by MBAI to honour one of its past Presidents, the late Dr. M. Devaraj

Dr. S. Jones Memorial Award ( now renamed as Deveraj Memorial Award)  was presented to Ms. Nayruti S Bhattji and Nandini Ray Chaudhury, Coastal Zone Studies Project, Geology, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Samdi Pole Naka, Bajwada, Vadodara- 390001,Gujarat for the best oral presentation entitled “Sedimentation pattern in pirotan reef, Gulf of Kuchchh, India: A case study” in connection with the International Symposium Marine Ecosystems- Challenges and Opportunities (MECOS 09) During 9th to 12th February 2009 at The Presidency Hotel, Kochi.

 

MECOS 2

J. K. Kizhakudan, K. K. Philipose, R. Sundar, V. Joseph Xavier, C. Manibal and R. Ponniah of Madras Research Centre of CMFRI, 75, Santhome High Road, Chennai-28 for the Best Paper presentation entitled “Open sea cage aquaculture- Inviting fisher youth to farming, in Kovalam, Tamil Nadu” in connection with the International Symposium Marine Ecosystems- Challenges and Opportunities (MECOS2) During 2nd to 5th December 2014 at the Dream Hotel, Kochi.

 

MECOS 3

Dr M. Devaraj Memorial Award for the Best Digital Presentation in ‘Theme 2- Responsible aquaculture production systems & Theme 7- Green harvest and post-harvest technologies” was presented to:

1. T.T. Ajith Kumar, S. Akash, Sheena Jose, Manu Madhavan, S. Bharathi, A. Dhinakaran, Charan Ravi, Kuldeep Kumar Lal of ICAR- National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India for the best digital presentation entitled “Captive breeding of ornamental shrimps Ancylocaris brevicarpalis Schenkel, 1902 and Thor hainanensis Xu & Li 2014 at Lakshadweep: an addition to marine ornamental aquaculture” (RSA EP-09) in connection with the International Symposium Marine Ecosystems- Challenges and Opportunities (MECOS 3) during 7-10 January 2020 at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Kochi-18.

2. Remesan M. P., V. R. Madhu, Paras Nath Jha, R. K. Renjith, S. Chinnadurai and Leela Edwin ICAR- Central Institute of Fishery Technology, Kochi, Kerala-682 029 for the best digital presentation entitled “Development of Jellyfish excluder device for trawls: Performance of Grid-1” (GPT EP-05) in connection with the International Symposium Marine Ecosystems- Challenges and Opportunities (MECOS 3) during 7-10 January 2020 at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Kochi-18.
