MECOS AWARDS

Marine ecosystems are under increasing stress from various anthropogenic activities such as overfishing, pollution from domestic and industrial effluents, climate change, dredging, navigation, and the introduction of exotic species. These pressures are contributing to ecosystem degradation, biodiversity loss, and socio-economic disruptions for stakeholders. Additionally, the goods and services provided by these ecosystems are not being optimally utilized, leaving room for more sustainable and balanced use for both consumptive and non-consumptive purposes.

Marine Ecosystems Challenges and Opportunities (MECOS), a triennial international symposium acknowledges these challenges and opportunities, offering a platform to explore solutions for the conservation and the sustainable use of marine ecosystems. It invites researchers from marine biology, fisheries, oceanography, marine biotechnology, and social sciences to present their latest work, addressing the key themes of the conference.
