Dr. S. Jones Memorial Prize

The Second Dr. S. Jones Memorial prize was conferred on Prof (Dr.) I.S. Bright Singh, School of Environmental Sciences and Coordinator National Centre for Aquatic Animal Health (NCAAH), Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Kerala, India.

Prof. (Dr.) Singh is a dedicated teacher and researcher with an illustrious and productive career spanning over 30 years in various capacities and has successfully guided 30 students for their Doctoral Degree. He has 90 publications in peer reviewed journals, edited 5 books and contributed 12 chapters in books apart from 36 publications in National and International Conferences. Dr. Singh has 2 patents granted and has 213 Gen Bank submissions. As many as 34 sponsored research projects from National and International agencies have been executed by him. Prof. Bright Singh is the Founder-Coordinator of National Centre for Aquatic Animal Health (NCAAH) in CUSAT and has been instrumental in starting the M.Tech programme in Marine Biotechnology at NCAAH, sponsored by Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India) under the National network programme in human resource development.

He has occupied positions as Director, School of Environmental Studies, CUSAT (2006 to 2009), Dean, Faculty of Environmental Studies (2007-2010) and Member – Syndicate, CUSAT (2007-2010). He has served as Visiting Professor to Northumbria University, U.K during 2001-2008. He is the recipient of Young Scientist Award of State Committee on Science, Technology and Environment (Government of Kerala), UGC-BSR Grant, and is an elected Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (FNAAS), New Delhi.
