Studies on the Larval History of two species of Euphausiacea from the Indian Seas.
The literature on the larval development in Euphausiacea of very poor. The present paper deals in detail with the complete post-naupliar development of two species of the genus Euphausia; E. diomedeae Ortmann 1984 and E. distinguenda Hansen 1911. These are the two most abundant euphausiids in the tropical Indian Ocean. Three calyptopis and six furcilia stages were identified for E. diomedeae typical stages. But for E. distinguenda three calyptopis and twelve identified of which six furciliae are variants. The types of variants seen are also discussed.
