On the laboratory hatched six Phyllosoma stages of Scyllarus sordidus (Stimpson).

Abstract

Of the two species of squat lobsters (Thenus orientalis and Scyllarus sordidus) 'ailable in the inshore waters off Bombay, six phyllosoma stages of S. sordidus (Stimpson) have been reared in the laboratory. There are possibly 2-3 more stages before completion  of metamorphosis which, however, could not be completed in the course of the present work. Necessary comparisons are made with the larvae of S. americanus, the only laboratory reared species.
