Growth parameters determined by Kagwade (1987a) are made use of in estimating the natural mortality coefficient ‘M’ the values of which are 0.33 for males and 0.35 for females. The fishing mortality coefficient ‘F’ deduced from these, equals 1.43 for males and 0.080 for females. The total stock estimated is 452.66 t, the standing stock is 271.12 t, and the maximum sustainable yield is 168.42 t.
