Dr. Krishnakumar P. Kadinjappalli works in the Center for Environment and Water, RI/KFUPM, as Senior Consultant since April 2008. He obtained his Masters (Marine Biology) and PhD (Marine Pollution) degrees from the Cochin University of Science and Technology, India and completed his post-doctoral study from the Environmental Conservation Division, Northwest Fisheries Science Center, USA.
Dr. Krishnakumar’s specialization includes Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Coastal pollution monitoring, Biomarkers of Marine Pollution, Contaminant Monitoring using marine organisms, Eco-toxicology etc. As Project Manager, he has successfully completed around 30 client funded projects and as Lead Technical Expert, worked for around 100 client funded projects. He received two outstanding Applied Researcher Awards, two outstanding Applied Research Management Awards and two distinguished Applied Research Team Member Awards.
Prior to joining KFUPM, Dr. Krishnakumar worked for 22 years (1986-2008) as Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist in the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (www.cmfri.org.in), Cochin, India.
Dr. Krishnakumar has published around 75 research papers in peer reviewed international journals, several book chapters and presented papers in several international conferences. He is the elected Vice-President and Board Member of the Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) - Asia Section since Aug 2018. Dr. Krishnakumar is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Marine Biological Association of India since 2011 and Review Editor (Marine Pollution) of the journal Frontiers in Marine Science since 2015.

Research interest includes fisheries resources assessment and management, aquatic ecology and biodiversity, Ecosystem conservation, trophic modeling , coastal zone management .

Dr K. K. Vijayan, renowned Director of Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA), Chennai, R&D and research management experience of more than twenty eight years in the areas of Coastal Aquaculture. He has 11 years in research management position, with 3 plus years as the Director of CIBA, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and 8 years as the Head of the Marine Biotechnology Division at Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Kochi.

Dr. Vijayan took his Masters degree from the Department of Marine Sciences, Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT), Kerala in 1982 and PhD in CAS in Mariculture–CMFRI, CUSAT in the subject of “Aquaculture/Mariculture: Crustacean Growth Physiology”. He initiated molecular pathology and DNA-based diagnostics work with a focus on shrimp viral diseases at CIBA. He did his post-doctoral research at the University of Mississippi-Gulf Coast research Lab (GCRL), USA on molecular virology and at the University of Liege, Belgium on Genomics. His work on white spot viral disease (the most dreaded viral pathogen affecting shrimp aquaculture across the word) and development of molecular based diagnostic tools and their commercialization are widely appreciated and won the prestigious National Award for the best commercial Biotech product from the Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India) in 2003.  He was institutional in developing social nutraceuticals findings from marine birds and seaweeds and many of these are import substitutes. He also published about 75 peer reviewed research papers in internationally reputed journals, eight book chapters, five patents and three commercial products, to his credit and many presentations in the conferences and symposium.

Pranab Mukhopadhyay is Professor of Economics at Goa University. He is a Fellow of the South Asian Network for Development & Environmental Economics (SANDEE), Kathmandu and was the President of the Indian Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE) during 2016-18. He graduated from Presidency College, Calcutta and did his masters and doctoral work at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has co-edited Promise, Trust and Evolution: Managing the Commons of South Asia, (OUP, UK, 2008), Global Change, Ecosystems, Sustainability, (Sage Publications, New Delhi, 2017) and Nature, Economy and Society (Springer, New Delhi, 2016). He co-authored the book Common Property Water Resources: Dependence and Institutions in India's Villages (TERI Press, New Delhi, 2008). His articles have been published in Climatic Change, Current Science; Ecology and Society; Environment and Development Economics; Economic and Political Weekly; Geojournal; and Journal of Quantitative Economics.

Dr. Krishna R. SALIN is currently an Associate Professor at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, and is coordinating the Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management Program as its Program Chair. He has been active in the industry as a researcher, entrepreneur, and academic for over 23 years. He earned his Bachelor of Fisheries Science, Master’s in Aquaculture, and Ph.D. in Mariculture from India; and completed the post-doctoral research at Queensland University of Technology, Australia where he was also appointed as a Visiting Fellow. His current research focus is on innovative aquaculture systems including Biofloc and RAS, grow-out and hatchery technologies for finfish and shellfish, and applied genetics for stock improvement. He was a recipient of the Best Young Scientist Award (2003, India), Australian Endeavour Award (2009, Govt. of Australia); and CREST Biotechnology Award (2012, DBT, Govt. of India). He has handled several aquaculture research and development projects in India, Thailand, and East Africa, funded by national and international donors, and serve as a Technical Consultant and Hon. Advisor to national and international organizations. He has also organized a series of international workshops, conferences, and training programs on aquaculture. He is a Visiting Professor at the Shanghai Ocean University, China; and Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco (UJAT) – one of the biggest public universities in Mexico; and serves as the Associate Editor of international journals including Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (Springer Nature) and Aquaculture and Fisheries (Elsevier). In May 2019, Dr. Salin was elected to the Board of World Aquaculture Society-Asia Pacific Chapter (WAS-APC) as Director.

Research contributions in bioactive molecule discovery from marine organisms and microorganisms as therapeutic agents against various diseases, food chemistry, aquatic food product technology, and development of high value products for health management. His research work developed potential pharmacophore leads and protocols to prepare various nutraceuticals/functional food supplements enriched with lead molecules with bioactive properties against various drug targets for use against hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, hypothyroid, hypertension, inflammatory, and various metabolic/lifestyle disorders. These technologies were patented and commercialized to leading wellness/pharmaceutical companies. The works of his group on the bioactive properties of marine and microbial polyketide chemistry developed an antimicrobial therapeutic product for use against multi-resistant Gram-negative pathogens. The libraries of specialized bioactive compounds developed by his research group compose an abundant resource for future bioactivity research and will provide promising therapeutic candidates against various human ailments. His work on polyunsaturated fatty acid chemistry and nutritional biochemistry are noteworthy.

Asso.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Huy is a Vice Director of Research Institute for Aquaculture No.1 (RIA 1) in Vietnam. Dr. Nguyen obtained PhD degree in 2010 at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway. Dr. Nguyen’s major research areas are marine finfish hatchery and aquaculture, fish nutrition. Dr. Nguyen was directors of three international projects, project leaders or members of 7 national projects. Dr. Nguyen has published more than 60 scientific papers on international and domestic journals and co-authors of three books and text-books.

Dr. Ambasankar graduated from Madras Veterinary College during the year 1993 and completed his M.V.Sc in Animal Nutrition from VCRI, Namakkal. He belonged to the 1996 ARS in the discipline of Animal Nutrition and working at CIBA, Chennai since 1997 on Nutrition and Feed development for Brackishwater Aquaculture.  He obtained his Ph.D in Animal Nutrition from MVC, Chennai during 2004. He is currently working as Principal Scientist and in-charge of Nutrition section of CIBA. His main research interests are in the area of aquaculture Nutrition, specifically focusing on shrimp and seabass nutrition, larval and broodstock nutrition, and feed processing. He has developed several aqua feed technologies and successfully commercialized the indigenous shrimp feed technology   and seabass feed technology. The cost effective feed Vanami Plus has gained popularity among the farmers and has become most sought after feed and this has been commercialized to eight entrepreneurs in the states of TN, AP, WB, Gujarat, Odisha and Kerala. He has established the state of the art facilities for aqua feed production for different physiological stages of fish and shrimp, in addition to the well-equipped nutrition analytical laboratory. He handled several institute and funded projects from DBT, ICAR, NABARD and NFDB.  He has been awarded with the many academic awards including the recent prestigious Nanaji Deshmuk ICAR award for outstanding Interdisciplinary Team Research in Agricultural and allied Sciences” for the year 2015-16.He underwent   international training for 3 months in the area of nutraceuticals, at CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Institute, Cleveland Laboratories, Cleveland, Australia. He has been nominated as Indian representative to participate in the in the Regional Consultation on Responsible Production and Use of Feed and Feed Ingredients for Sustainable Growth of Aquaculture in Asia – Pacific. Bangkok organized by FAO-NACA. He has more than 60 Publications in national and international journal of repute to his credit.
